Basket Bag

In this series, Vachetta Vegetale is no longer just a material; it is a canvas. I am exploring the raw interaction between fluid pigment and the open, breathing surface of the hide.

The result is erratic. The texture on every piece is dictated by the leather's natural absorption, making the outcome impossible to replicate.

No two objects are identical. Each piece carries its own visual narrative, a distinct story told through depth, shade, and grit.

The bag offers volume when needed, and restraint when not.
Its side panels fold inward, quietly reducing the form without altering its character. The structure responds to use, rather than dictating it.

Imperfections such as slightly uneven stitches or asymmetric contours are intentional and reflect the artisanal aesthetic of the piece. These are not flaws, but integral elements of its unique identity.

Each artefact is made one at a time. Production is limited by the hands of a single maker and signed with a number and year. 

Natural marks — subtle stains, light scratches, and developing patina — are inherent to the leather and evolve over time, adding depth and character.
